Increasing demand for IT labor force in HCM city in the last 6 months of 2018

Ho Chi Minh City Labor Market Information and Forecast Center (Falmi) has released a survey report on labor market analysis in the first 6 months of 2018 and comment on the market in the last 6 months of the year.

Accordingly, in the first six months of 2018, demand for human resources in Ho Chi Minh City increased 24.41% compared to the same period in 2017, focusing on such industries as Business – Sales (22.17%) , Services – serving (12.57%), Textiles – leather shoes (7.88%), Property business – real estate (6.9%), Information consultancy services – Finance – Credit – Banking – Accounting – Auditing (6%), Information Technology (5.03%), Transportation – Warehousing – Import – Export (3, 74%), Mechanical – Automation – Electronics – Mechatronics (3.74%), Architecture – Civil Engineering (1.84%).

In the first 6 months of 2018, the total number of job seekers has increased by 52.06% over the same period of 2017. The reason is that graduates from universities and colleges are joining the city workforce. This has contributed to the increasing competition between workers with work experience and new graduates.

Falmi forecasts that the human resource demand in HCMC in the last 6 months of 2018 will be around 148,000 jobs. Accordingly, in the third quarter of 2018, the city’s economy will stabilize its production and business, creating a driving force for the city to continue to develop its economy in line with the development orientations in 2018 and the labor market.
